Event Producer
Latinas en Marcha is a summit that advances democracy, sisterhood, and leadership for Latinas. The summit was formed by the non-profit organizations: New Florida Majority, Florida Immigrant Coalition, and the Miami Workers Center. The summit included panel discussions and speeches from powerful Latina leaders such as Civil Rights Activist Dolores Huerta, live music and spoken word performances, a virtual reality experience room, and a march to downtown Miami’s City Hall to vote early for the midterm elections. I was hired 3 weeks before the event. I led the creative direction and logistical coordination. My duties included selecting, negotiating, and booking the venue and talent, determining the layout of the event, and supervising the setup and breakdown of the event. The organizers desired an engaging educational component to the event. So I produced an augmented reality experience through flyers and posters that informed attendees about the importance of voting and Amendment 4, which restores the voting rights of convicted felons. Amendment 4 was approved by voters. Yay!
